About Us

2007 – 2008: Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology was a promising technology in the lead to bring changes to industries anytime soon. In that spirit, Pura Group prepared to ride the trend by initiating research, development, and application of nanotechnology in its major business focuses.

One worth particular attention was solar window film for glass windows. Developed using nano particles enclosing optical elements, this film came with unique features far ahead of those offered by similar competing products: High visible light transmission (vlt) (therefore more transparent), yet with high infrared cut and ultraviolet block values.

The film was designed to be used for car, building, and home windows, as well as other applications where both sun ray absorption and clear vision were required.

2006 – 2007: Bio Fuel

With global demand for fuel always on the increase on the back of depleting oil reserves, alternative energy sources had never been more important. Correspondingly, Pura Group designed a wind-powered power generator and started exploiting the potential of jatropha oil to a good use as bio fuel. Interestingly, jatropha oil was used as a complete replacement of conventional solar in whole, as opposed to as an additive.

2000 – 2005: Pura Power Plant

To meet the increasing demand for electricity, Pura built Pura Power Plant – a steam-powered power generator featuring co-generator system.

In 2005 Pura founded Smart Technology Unit that produced smart cards and labels for product and employee identification.

1990 – 2000: Microcapsule, Anti-counterfeiting System, Melamine Phenolic Impregnated Paper

The birth of Microcapsule Unit represented a milestone in the long history of Pura Group, defining the Company as the first microcapsule manufacturer in Southeast Asia. Microcapsule was the basic material for making carbonless paper.

Not less importantly, by this time Pura Group had become the only non-government company in Southeast Asia able to develop anti-counterfeiting system and security features – which eventually led to the establishment of Total Security System Division.

During the same time, Pura Group started venturing into bank note paper manufacturing, utilizing own designed and manufactured machines, as well as producing melamine phenolic impregnated paper at Dekorindo Division.

1980 – 1989: Carbonless Paper, Holography Division

During this decade Pura Group cemented its position as the first company in tropical region able to manufacture carbonless paper (No Carbon Required).

Such achievement was complemented with the founding of Holography Division and Hot Stamping Foil Division – also the first in Southeast Asia - Paper Mill 56, Paper Mill 78, as well as Engineering and Electronic Division focusing on machines and production plant.

1970 – 1979: Birth of New Divisions

During 1970s, various divisions were founded, and later on expanded to be the driving force behind Pura Group’s move to be the leading player in integrated printing across Southeast Asia. Several include Offset Division, Pre press Division, Rotogravure Division (with its cylinder made in house), Metallizing Division, Corrugated Box Division, Paper Mill 23, and printing-ink manufacturing plant.

1908 – 1970: The Embryo of Pura Group

For more than 60 years, Pura Group operated from one generation to the next as a letter-press printing house – an embryo of present-day Pura Group.
